Description
The Pio Cesare winery dedicates a part of its vineyards, located in the areas most suited to the production of great red wines, to an international white grape variety, Chardonnay. The goal of this unconventional choice is to give life to a white that in body, complexity and ability to evolve over the years comes close to the noblest reds of the entire range created by the winery. A decidedly ambitious goal, which is however reached with the “Piodilei”, Langhe DOC where structure, elegance and drinking experience represent the strong points of a label that actually differs from the simpler characters that the classic Piedmontese whites express in glass.ll “Piodilei” is a white wine that the Pio Cesare winery produces from an international grape variety, Chardonnay. The grapes come from the company’s vineyards located around Treiso and Serralunga d’Alba, and, after a careful selection that takes place during the harvest, they are softly pressed. Fermentation takes place in barrique, where the wine then matures in contact with its fine lees for about 8 months, at the end of which the bottling phases are carried out. Chardonnay “Piodilei” Pio Cesare presents itself to the eye with a straw yellow color, crossed by light shades tending to golden. The nose is dominated by fruity sensations, which, slowly, give way to more spicy notes, resulting from aging in wood. On the palate it is characterized by great softness, which envelops the mouth in an almost creamy and tactile sip, where there is a pleasant freshness. A label of great elegance and originality, which goes perfectly with fish-based first and second courses cooked with refined preparations.
