Description
Montiano certainly represents the spearhead of the Cotarella family, capable of expressing all the passion of the family-run company that has been producing it for more than twenty years, making it known to the world. Rooted in upper Lazio, in Montefiascone, the winery believed in the recovery and enhancement of a territory that historically has offered the best wines to the papal courts and the Roman nobility, and has been amply rewarded.
Acclaimed as one of the most innovative Italian reds, Montiano is a full and round Merlot, rich in aromas and with a broad aromatic spectrum. With this product, Merlot seems to have found its ideal habitat in the lands of northern Lazio, originally populated by white vines.
The grapes are harvested after having reached an advanced ripeness, to allow a magnificent expression, and then the long maceration on the skins and the permanence in French oak barrels for 12 months make it a deep and balanced wine, soft, rich in elegant spicy and mineral hints. It shines in the glass as an intense and deep ruby, the nose is all an enchanting complexity of sweet and fruity aromas, elegant and refined on the palate, with hints of wood and spices.
